Background to The Merricks Yacht Club

Merricks Yacht Club was founded in 1964 as a small yard on the foreshore for the many enthusiastic sailors and fishermen in the holiday township of Merricks Beach.

Since then it has grown into a popular local club which provides a great meeting place for local residents and holiday makers alike.

The sailing is friendly but competitive, and the club has produced some keen and accomplished sailors over the years. We have a keen gang of junior sailors, and an active junior sailing program over the summer, for newcomers and more experienced sailors alike.

Classes sailed at Merricks currently include: Melges 14, Laser, 470, Sabre, Impulse, Pacer, Optimist, A Class, Mosquito, Castle 650, Explorer 16.

Note: Merricks Yacht Club is on the beach and does not have a concrete ramp or sheltered launch or mooring facilities. Launching and retrieval of member’s boats can only be undertaken by use of the tractor and or winches.

PWC (Jet Skis) must not be launched from Merricks Yacht Club at anytime. MYC is predominantly an off-the-beach dinghy/catamaran sailing club. As yard space is limited, priority is given to yachts of active sailors. Motorboat fisherman are encouraged to apply to Westernport Yacht Club.

Membership of Merricks Yacht Club

Merricks Yacht Club welcomes and encourages new members. New members are invited to submit their application online.  Your application must then be approved by the committee before you can make your payment and be accepted as a new member.

Membership runs from 1st July till 30th June. New members who apply on or after 1st Jan will have their first year rates pro-rated automatically.  New members who apply on or after 1st April will have their membership automatically extended by 3 months till 1st July the following year.

Online Membership System Instructions

There is a once-off registration process that will also generate a membership invoice. 
 
In future years the system will automatically email you a renewal-reminder with a link to the website for you to review and update your details, generate your invoice and, if you want, pay online immediately.

1. Select Online Membership
   
2. Scroll up or down and select the appropriate membership level
   
3. Then scroll down to the bottom and then select NEXT
   
4. Enter your email address
   
5. Type the Captcha phrase in the Code box.
   
6. Select NEXT.
   
7. Complete the Membership Details as shown on-screen.
   
8. Scroll down to the bottom and then select NEXT
   
9. Review your details as entered.
   
10. If any errors, select Back to go back to step 7 and correct.
    
11. Then:-
    
1. New members, select INVOICE ME. An invoice will be emailed to you and your application automatically submitted to the committee for consideration. Should your application be successful, you will be notified by email and invited to pay by any of the methods shown on the invoice.
2. Existing members, select INVOICE ME to have the invoice emailed to you or select Pay Online to pay immediately via PayPal using your Credit/Debit card or PayPal account.
